3DR Solo Vs. Lily Drone

A little drone comparison is definitely recommended before buying. No matter how well-versed you are in drone technology, it never hurts to read reviews and learn as much as you can about a prospective quadcopter. If you’ve been thinking about purchasing the 3DR Solo drone from 3D Robotics or the Lily drone by Lily, check out the following feature comparisons to help you make a decision:

Camera

The 3DR Solo does not come with a camera, however it’s still widely regarded as one of the best quadcopters for aerial photography and videography. Its 3-axis gimbal is “fully capable” of controlling the corresponding GoPro camera, as it stabilizes the camera within 0.1 degrees of pointing accuracy. The gimbal also provides the camera with power so it doesn’t die as you’re capturing a stunning aerial shot.

The Lily drone is “as much of a camera as it is a quadcopter,” however its resolution is lower than what you get with larger drones. However, the camera does provide 1080 and 60fps videos, and 12 megapixel images.

Operation

Operating the Solo is a relatively very easy process, particularly if you already know a thing or three about quadcopters. It comes with a flight simulator app so you can practice flying before taking the drone out and about. The drone also features a system control app so you may control the 3DR Solo directly from your phone in addition to using the controller. There’s also an autopilot system that follows the path you create.

The Lily drone, in comparison, is touted as a drone for those who…don’t like to fly drones. Yes, you read that correctly. It may be the first drone that automatically follows you around and starts recording when you toss it in the air, however it’s geared toward taking action shots as you ski, climb, run…you get the idea. You also have to perform such activities while going 25 miles an hour or less, so stay off black diamond runs if you want to use the Lily.

The Lily may feature a camera, but it still pales in comparison to the Solo.
