I keep seeing more and more stories like “Police using drones to help patrol on busy holiday.” Stories that really emphasize the career opportunity that exists for trained drone operators. As more and more groups start taking advantage of the benefits that drones offer, more career opportunities for trained drone operators will be created.
It’s always good to have extra law enforcement out on holidays. This year, the Vestavia Hills Police Department will have eyes in the sky patrolling.
Lt. Chuck Nagle says they plan to use their drone to help give their crew a bird’s eye view on crowds and traffic. Now that they have an officer trained and certified to fly it, they plan to use it more often. “If we have a perimeter set up, then we can kind of know they are in this area and a lot of times we still have wooded areas but you can fly that over and it works night or day and it will pick up the heat from the body,” he describes.
