Is “Drone Fishing” Really a Thing?

Let’s just file this drone activity under weird or silly and maybe call it a day? Really people, drone fishing? I can’t believe this is a thing. Norman Hirsch on the other hand disagrees. According to Hirsh, “drone fishing is kind of a new thing,” and he backs up his statement with a customized drone capable of holding and releasing fishing line.

There’s a new way to fish gaining popularity along Florida’s beaches.

“Drone fishing is kind of a new thing,” Norman Hirsch explains as he rigs his pole and drone.

His drone has a built in camera, and tracks height and distance. He customized his with a release, designed to hold onto the line, until you want to drop it in. He picks where they were biting Monday, 550 feet away from shore.

Drone Fishing Hits Florida

Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t imagine this being a very exciting activity. I guess we will just have to wait and see if this is just a passing fad or becomes a “thing.” Who knows, maybe we’ve got RTF fishing drones in our future.
