I’ve talked about 3D printable drones before, specifically a model for the DoD created by a team at the University of Virginia, but the university team didn’t release 3D models. Without 3D models for the drone, you can’t print your own copy.
The team behind the RcHobbysUK blog have been working on their 3D printable drone, and they are willing to share the 3D models (for a small price that is). You can purchase the 3D models for this DJI Inspire One clone for just £4.99 or about $7.84. In addition to the 3D printer and 3D models, you will need a few more parts. This is a complete list of parts required to complete your DIY drone.
If you’ve always wanted a DJI Inpsire One, but didn’t want to pay for it, you may enjoy the process of building your own version. While it’s not the same by any stretch, the RcHobbysUK team designed with an eye for detail, they even included retractable arms.
Update: I was able to track down this video of the 3D printed drone in action.
