The DoC Is Investigating 26 Cases Of Drones Muling Contraband

It seems as drones are fast becoming the drug mule of choice for todays US prison system. This is a subject I’ve touched on a few times before (here and here for example). According to this latest article, there are 26 ongoing cases under investigation by the Department of Corrections and I’m sure a much larger number pending,

The discovery of the drone Friday night followed the 26 ongoing cases DOC is investigating, which involve smuggling of drugs, cellphones and other contraband into the island’s prison since January this year.

The department has also launched an investigation into correction officers’ discovery of the drone, DOC confirmed yesterday.

In recent months, more than a dozen cases involving use of the drones to smuggle drugs, pornographic materials and other contraband into U.S. mainland prisons have been reported.

“We recognize the advancing methods used to infiltrate corrections facilities across the country,” said DOC Deputy Director Kate Baltazar.
