  1. Refers to an FAA requirement that UAVs stay under a pilot’s direct control if they are flying under the recreational exemption to COA approval. (Not to be confused with the PIC processor series by Microchip)
  2. An unmanned aircraft that is flying in a state of direct control by a UAV operator (i.e. not in autonomous flight).  In this instance, the operator can also be referred to as the Pilot in Command.
